FAQ

This e-learning portal is available to all investors at no charge.

It gives investors an avenue to learn about the features, risks and suitability of unlisted Specified Investment Products (SIPs) before deciding to invest in them.

Users will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding of the SIPs through an assessment conducted at the end of each module.

By taking and passing the assessment on the e-learning portal, a customer who was originally assessed by a financial intermediary to not possess the required qualification, knowledge or experience to invest in SIPs under the CKA framework, may be considered by a financial intermediary to have obtained the required knowledge to invest in SIPs.

Currently, five modules of the SIPs are offered as follows:

  • Contracts for Difference (CFDs);
  • Foreign Exchange Margin Trading;
  • Structured Deposits and Dual Currency Investments;
  • Structured Products;
  • Unit Trusts and Investment-linked Insurance Products.

You do not have to pay to use this e-learning portal.

The assessment will be conducted at the end when you have completed each module.

If you fail, you can retake the assessment. There is no restriction on the number of attempts.However a record is kept of the number of attempts you make.

You do not need to. As this e-learning portal is designed to be modular, you may choose to take and pass the assessment of the specific SIP module that you are interested to invest in.

To pass each module, you are required to answer 13 out of 15 questions correctly.

If you pass the assessment, you will receive a Certificate at the end of the assessment. The system will issue the Certificate which will be sent to your registered email address.

The certificate is to prove that you have understood the features, risks and suitability of the unlisted SIPs covered in each module. However, the e-learning portal is not intended to substitute or replace the CKA requirement. Even though you may have taken and passed the e-learning assessment, financial intermediaries will still be required to conduct the CKA on you to assess whether you have the necessary qualification, knowledge or experience to invest in unlisted SIPs.

The Certificate is valid for one year from the date of completion. Upon expiry of the validity period, you are required to take and pass the assessment of the specific SIP if you are interested to invest in it again.

You should present the certificate to your financial intermediary as proof that you have passed the assessment.

Your financial intermediary is able to access the portal to verify that you have passed a SIP module, this will require you to provide your financial intermediary with personal information.
